Illumination Entertainment is an American film studio headquarterd in Santa Monica, California. It was founded in 2007 by founder Chris Meledandri. It is known for creating many computer animated films including it's first film Despicable Me. Meledandri originally worked for 20th Century Fox, but later quit his job and decided to work on and start Illumination Entertainment. Meledandri worked on many 20th Century Fox films before including Ice Age and Alvin and The Chipmunks. Illumination's first sequel was the sequel to Despicable Me, and it was called, Despicable Me 2. The mascots for Illumination Entertainment are the minions from the Despicable Me franchise.
